On our Inshore bay fishing charters the bite has been great most days. As the water temps begin to cool off we should see the red tide disappear. As far as the fishing the mangrove snappers still continue to be a hot bite and we are catching some good sized ones ranging from 12-16 inches. Don't forget these mangrove snappers are one of the best eating fishing inshore so get the oil ready. Along with the mangrove snappers red fish have also been hitting pretty good. This has been an unusual year as we have not been seeing big numbers of the big bull reds lately and majority of the redfish have been in the slot size. So far we have 1st and 2nd place redfish in the Destin Fishing Rodeo with a 7.6lber and a 7.4lber. There has still been a lot of bait hanging around and we have been catching some spanish mackerel and jack crevalle around the schools of bait. As the month goes on and into next month Flounder should be taking the hot seat as they migrate from our bay to near shore wrecks in the gulf.
On our near shore gulf charters we are seeing good sized spanish mackerel and the kings are starting to pick up. The fall is also the time of the year that the blackfin tunas start moving inshore towards the beaches. We have been seeing some on the tidelines and around schools of bait inshore. While bottom fishing the vermilion snappers "aka mingos snappers" have been hot, we are also catching amberjacks wrecks. As far as Redsnappers and Triggerfish you can catch as many as you want but don't forget they are closed for the rest of the year.
Don't forget the Destin Fishing Rodeo takes place the entire month of October, so you still have some time to get out and try to get on the board. Destin Inshore Guides' boats are all registered vessels, so if you come fishing with us you have the opportunity to win some prizes. We have limited availability the rest of the month so call ahead and book your trip.
As always if you are planing a trip to Destin, Florida be sure to give us a call and let us take you out to catch your next memory of a lifetime. Till next time Tight Lines.
